Alcohol Drug Testing Kits for Employees

Griffith's Mayor says he supports the introduction of drug and alcohol testing of council staff.

Kempsey Shire Council in the state's north has introduced the drug testing procedure, with the support of the Shires Association of New South Wales.

Griffith Mayor John Dal Broi thinks that having a drug and alcohol testing policy may help prevent future legal action against the council. (continues below...)

"There could well be a need to ensure that people are not affected by alcohol," he said.

"We've had an event here in Griffith where that did occur, and now there is legal action as the council had to dismiss a person.

"But it would be better if it came from the staff themselves and they said, 'look, we want to make sure everything's above board'."
