Vista Unified School District's students will soon face random drug testing.

The new policy adopted by the school district Thursday night only affects students enrolled in extracurricular programs ranging from athletics to academics.

Many students are against the random testing, but others think it is a good tool to fight illegal drug abuse.

“They are trying to help us, but I don't know if it's necessary though.

"Parents must sign permission slips consenting to random drug testing or their kids will not be allowed to join extra curricular activities.

The drug testing could begin as early as February 27th.
