Our DNA test kits come in two collection formats:
Buccal: Buccal is the "Cheek Swab" Test. A buccal swab is soft and resembles a large Q-Tip. It is used to collect a sample of cheek cells by simply rubbing the inside of the cheeks. It is as accurate as blood, as the DNA is the same. A person should, however, abstain from drinking coffee for a few hours before taking a sample, and smokers should rinse and brush their cheeks with a toothbrush before swabbing.
Blood: If you're considering the blood option, it is quite important that you contact your physician for the collection of blood samples for children under 8 years of age. We offer this option because it is much faster and easier for you to collect. The procedure involves a small lancet that is used to lightly pierce a finger (most don't even feel it). A small drop of blood is then transferred to a collection card - that's it.

A maternity test is used to conclusively determine if an alleged woman is a biological mother of the subject or not. The maternity relates with the match of child's DNA marker patterns with those of the mother. Results of a maternity test may be used to prove the maternal relationship in immigration or adoption cases. Maternity tests usually are often performed using a Chain of Custody, a documentation process that makes the test results legally admissible. This test is also done in some cases to ensure mothers or hospital staff who suspect that a mix up has occurred between babies in the nursery, to ensure a reunion with the correct biological parents. It is also done for mothers who have conceived by in vitro fertilization and who wish to check if the embryo is actually her own. The home maternity test can be performed with great ease and convenience without compromising on accuracy, speed and confidentiality. A considerable statistical matching in marker patterns gives confirms the identity of the biological mother.
