FertilMARQ Fertility/Sperm Count Tests
The FertilMARQ(tm) Home Diagnostic Screening Test provides everything needed to collect and test two separate semen samples. Taking this screening test will indicate if you have a low amount of sperm in your semen. It works by staining the cells in the sperm sample to produce a color. The intensity of this color is then compared to a color reference on the FertilMARQ(tm) test cassette. The color comparison will tell you whether the sperm concentration in the test sample is above 20 million/mL (positive test) or below 20 million/mL (negative test). 20 million/ml is the minimum fertility standard established by the World Health Organization.
You can provide these test results to your physician to aid in determining whether you are infertile.

According to the World Health Organization a man's fertility is defined on the basis of amount and quality of sperm in his semen. This has resulted in evolution of various Sperm count Tests for testing male infertility. Sperm count refers to the number of sperms per millileter of a man's ejaculate. A sperm count of over 20 million sperms per milliliter is considered to be normal while if a man posses less than that of the defined sperm count, he is considered to be sub-fertile. The laboratory based fertility tests or sperm count tests my be inconvenient. In contrast, home based sperm count tests often save the inconvenience and cut the embarrassment for some. Male fertility tests can also be performed for the testing many things other than counting sperms. There are many abnormalities that may lead to infertility or fertility associated complications. These may include, but are not limited to: 1) Polyzoospermia: Excessively high sperm concentration, 2) Oligozoospermia: Sperm count less than 20 million/ml, 3) Aspermia: No semen volume. However, it must be noted that while these conditions may be the direct reason that one cannot conceive, they themselves may be caused by an underlying medical condition. There are several reasons for male infertility. Some complications are caused by physical problems that prevent the sperm from being ejaculated normally while others affect the quality and production of the sperm itself , for instance, sexually transmitted diseases, infections, blockages, birth defects, physical damage, genetic disorders or hormonal problems.
