Ingesting lead paint and breathing in lead dust is the No. 1 contributor to lead poisoning in the US, which causes brain damage and affects over 200,000 children each year. This Lead in Paint Testing Kit is so important in determining the safety of your home. If your home was built before 1978, you should use this test to be on the safe side.

Lead based paint can be on walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, furniture, toys and even floors. With our testing kit, you can test either lead paint or lead dust with EPA and HUD approved methods. Once you collect a sample and send it back to our lab, the test conducted utilizes a atomic absorption spectrometer via a graphite furnace. Within two weeks you'll receive results so you can rest comfortably knowing your home is safe.

NOTE: There is a $30.00 Lab fee required for laboratory analysis.

NOTE: This sample collection kit provides 2 (two) sample bags. You may take a sample of either one paint or one dust sample or you make take two samples of either paint or dust. Optionally, additional samples (in your own plastic bag) may also be included for analysis. Each sample requires a $20 lab analysis fee.

DIRECTIONS FOR taking a PAINT sample –

ADDITIONAL MATERIALS REQUIRED: KNIFE OR SCRAPER 1. Locate the suspect test area and clean the surface of dust and dirt. 2. Put on the enclosed plastic gloves and using a clean knife, scraper, or other device suitable for removing paint, cut at an angle to expose all layers of paint down to the substrate (cement wall, wall board, wood, or other base surface). 3. Collect approximately 1 tablespoon full of paint chips or scrapings and place inside the enclosed sample bag and seal. BE CAREFUL that the paint sample does NOT include the substrate as this will dilute the test causing inaccurate results.

ADDITIONAL MA TERIALS REQUIRED: RULER OR TAPE MEASURE 1. Selection of test area. High friction surfaces are most likely to have deteriorating paint causing lead dust. Therefore, choose the area with the highest degree of wear and tear such as bare floors, inter ior window sills and window w ells (the area in which the closed window sits). 2. For a bare floor measure a one-square foot area for sampling. This can be: 1 ft. x 1 ft., or 6 in. x 2 ft., or 4 in x 3 ft. If you are testing the window sill or window well, measure the length and width of the surface and write it down on the information form below. IMPORTANT: The laboratory must have the measurement in order to calculate your results. 3. Obtaining the sample. Put on the enclosed plastic gloves to avoid contact between your skin and the sample. Take the wipe out of the sample bag provided. a. Completely unfold the wipe and rub it in a backward ‘S’ pattern once over the entire sampling area, taking care not to ‘push’ the dust, but actually pick it up. See “1st” illustration. b. Fold the wipe in half so that the soiled side is to the inside of the wipe, (folding the dust into the wipe). Next rub once over the surface area again at a 90 degree angle to the first backward ‘S’ as shown at right. See “2nd” illustration. Then fold the dust into the wipe and p lace the used wipe back in the sample bag and seal.

Reviews by other users:

"I would definitely recommend this radon test kit. It was simple to administer and the return package provided to send the test kit back to their lab was no expense to me (some tests rely on you to pay for the shipping bak to the lab). The test confirmed low levels of Radon and I feel very comfortable now with the quality of air inside my home."
"If you hire someone to inspect for mold and test it, it costs $300-$400 at the least so this product is a steal (even with the added lab fee). We got quick and professional results within a little over a week. Toxic Black mold was found in our home and we have since move and are are now going to sue the landlord of the last place. Wish me luck!"
"The product was easy to use, and the results were delivered to me very promptly."
"became very expensive once you add up the total cost and realized that more then one sample is going to be sent in for analyzing. Results were vague and customer service was not helpful in answering my questions from the results. I’m not sure they had any idea what I was talking about."
"The test works as advertised, basically you leave the sensor in a non-drafty lower level location for 48 hours and then mail it to the lab so they can analyze the results. My test results were a bit higher than expected but nothing to worry about. This kit saved me the money of having to hire a radon specialist to come in for testing. "
"We have well on our backyard and we use the water from our well in many household chores. I purchased this product to conduct my personal testing on the quality of water from our well. It gives me peace of mind knowing that the quality of water from our well is good. "
