RADON IN WATER TEST KIT

DIRECTIONS Important Note: Please follow the directions carefully. Save the directions and mailing materials. You will need them to send your samples to our laboratory at the completion of the sampling. In the space provided below, record the serial numbers located on the side of the glass sample vials and record the date you are returning the samples to PRO-LAB. We will need this information should you have any questions about your results.

1Choose a faucet that is closest to your home or office water inlet and remove the aerator (if present) with the pliers by turning it counter-clockwise. To avoid scratching the aerator, you may want to use a cloth rag between the pliers and the aerator. Turn on the cold water and allow it to run for 3-5 minutes. (For accurate results, thoroughly flush the water system before sampling or take the water samples immedi- ately following prolonged water use, such as a shower or laundry). While you are waiting for the water to purge, uncap the two (2) glass sample vials.

2Hold a large clean bowl (gallon size) or similar container up to the faucet and slowly fill until it overflows the top of the bowl. (For accurate results, the faucet outlet must be below the water surface with no air bubbling in the water for at least two minutes)

3Turn off the faucet and quickly submerge one of the sample vials and cap into the water as deeply as possible. Immediately cap the filled sample vial while still underwater; making sure that there are no air bubbles inside the sample vial. Repeat this step for the second sample vial.

4Hold each sample vial upside down and check for air bubbles. If bubbles are present, dump the sample out and repeat step 3 until there are no visible air bubbles. (Test results will be compromised if air bubbles are present).

5Completely fill out the location information card. (Analysis can not be conducted unless all of the information is recorded).

STANDARD LAB RESULTS Place the two (2) glass sample vials back into the protective mailing tubes and place them side by side in the bottom of the enclosed pre-paid postage envelope provided. (It will be a snug fit). Next, place the location information card and check, money order (made payable to PRO-LAB) or a credit card voucher for $20.00 (Visa, MasterCard, Amex or Discover only) in the top of the pre-paid postage envelope and MAIL IMMEDIATELY (within 24 hours of the completion of the test).

Within 1 week after PRO-LAB has received your sample vials, we will send you an easy to read evaluation of the radon level in your water, using EPA approved standard method 7500-RN.

Special Note: If you are a New Jersey resident, you must add an additional $10.00 fee (made payable to PRO-LAB) for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Agency's administrative costs.

EXPRESS FAX SERVICE Express fax service is available for an additional $15.00. In order to use the express fax service, you must send the sample vials, the location information card (with a fax number on the back), and the proper payment to PRO-LAB using an overnight shipping company such as Federal Express, Airborne Express or UPS. Within 48 hours of our receipt; you will receive your faxed results.
