This TSH blood test provides qualitative determination of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) in whole blood samples at concentrations > 5 ml U/L. The thyroid test is intended for ambulatory adult and cannot be used in screening newborn for hypothyroidism. It is ideally performed to individuals who are showing symptoms of hypothyroidism which include weight gain, dry skin, constipation, cold intolerance, puffy skin, hair loss, fatigue, and irregular menstrual cycle in female.
The test is simple to use and delivers accurate results in just a few minutes. However, it should be noted that this THS test is intended for professional use only. The THS result is based on chromatographic immunoassay method and any positive result must be confirmed using quantitative laboratory THS assay.
