Our  K2/Spice on-site test is the most sensitive K2 screen on the market, with the lowest cut-off level 25 ng/ml for synthetic cannabis, compounds used in the majority of K2 products. This urine drug testing also makes an efficient solution for screening employees, kids and teenagers as part of preventive measures in maintaining drug-free environment in the workplace, universities, schools, and other institutions.

Compounds Tested Are:

JWH-018 N-propanoic acid

JWH-018 5-pentanoic acid metabolite

JWH-018 N-4-hydroxypenty

JWH-018 N-5-hydroxypentyl

JWH-019 6-hydroxyhexyl

JWH-019 5-hydroxyhexyl

JWH-073 4-butanoic acid metabolite

JWH-073 N-2-hydroxybutyl

JWH-073 N-4-hydroxybutyl

JWH-122 N-4-hydroxypentyl

JWH-122 N-5-hydroxypentyl

JWH-200 6-hydroxyindole

JWH-210 N-(5-carboxypentyl) metabolite

C26H25NO3 JWH-398 N-pentanoic acid metabolite

MAM2201 N-pentanoic acid metabolite

RCS-4 N-(5-carboxypentyl) metabolite C21H21NO4

The one-step instant Spice test includes the following:

  • Test device
  • Package insert

How does it work?

  1. Remove the cap from the test device. Label the device with patient or control identifications.
  2. Immerse the absorbent tip into the urine sample for 5 seconds. Urine sample should not touch the plastic device.
  3. Replace the cap over the absorbent tip and lay the device flat on a clean, non-absorbent surface.
  4. Wait 5 minutes and read results

Interpretation of Results:

NEGATIVE: Two lines appear. One color line should be in the control region (C), and another color line should be in the test region (T). This result indicates that the drug concentration is below the detectable level.

NOTE: The shade of color in the test line region (T) will vary, but it should be considered negative whenever there is even a faint distinguishable color line.

POSITIVE: One color line appears in the control region (C). No line appears in the test region (T). This result indicates that the drug concentration is above the detectable level.

INVALID: Control line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or incorrect collection are the most likely reasons for control line failure.

The cut-off level of this urine testing kit is 75ng/mL. It provides only a qualitative, preliminary analytical result. To obtain a confirmed result, a secondary analytical method must be used, such as the Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Make sure to read the package insert for further details on the limitations of the test.

JWH-018 are JWH-073 are synthetic cannabinoids sprayed in over a dozen “herbal incense” products, such as K2, Spice, Pep Spice, Spice Silver, Spice Gold, Spice Diamond, Black Mamba, Buzz, Voodoo, Chill X, Algerian Blend, Dragon’s Slice, Tropical Synergy, Spice 99, Mojo, Pot-pourri, Pulse, Hush, Earthquake, Blaze, Red X, and Dawn. They mimic the effects of THC, the primary active ingredients of cannabis. Other synthetic cannabinoids that are believed to be present in these products are JWH-015, JWH-019, JWH-081, JWH-200, JWH-250, HU-210 and HU-211.

On March 1, 2011, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) designated five of the synthetic compounds (JWH-018, JWH-073, JWH-200, CP-47,497, and cannabicyclohexanol) as Schedule I substances. These chemicals are used to make “fake pot” products that are sold in smoke shops, gas stations, convenient stores, and online pharmacies.

K2, Spice, and other “herbal incense” have become an alarming concern to the United States following reports about teenagers and adults who have been abusing them. According to a report published in the Michigan Department of Community Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Administration, there are 352 nationally recorded cases of illness reported to the Poison Control Center since February 2010, due to ingesting K2 Spice.

Since 2009, the DEA has been receiving an increasing number of reports from poison control centers, hospitals and law enforcement regarding the “herbal incense” products. Around 18 states have already taken action to control one or more of the chemicals that are used to make these products. The chemicals will be controlled for at least 12 months, with the possibility of a 6-month extension.

As of 2010, the following U.S. states that banned synthetic cannabinoids include Kansas, Georgia, Alabama,  Tennesse, Missouri, Louisiana,  Mississippi, Arkansas, Oregon, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Florida, Indiana, and Ohio. Washington put a permanent ban on the sale, possession, and use of the dangerous chemicals in products such as Spice, K-2, “bath salts”, “plant food”, Ivory Wave, and White Lightning on October 2011.

In the State of Iowa, the Iowa Code 124.204(4) explicitly bans 6 synthetic cannabinoids as Schedule I Controlled Substances.

On January 4, 2010, a punitive general order was issued by the Commander Marine Corps Forces, Pacific, prohibiting the actual or attempted possession, use, sale, distribution or manufacture of synthetic cannabis as well as any derivative, analogue or variant of it.
