• Cotinine Labwork Urinalysis

  The Cotinine Labwork Urinalysis test offers an easy and convenient method to detect the presence of Cotinine in an individual’s system through the urine sample. It follows the cut off level of 200 ng/mL with a detection period of up to 2-3 days after nicotine consumption.

  When selecting this Cotanine Labwork test, you will be asked to enter your zip code and choose the laboratory facility near you. The required forms will be sent to you via email. The forms have to be taken to your chosen facility where your urine sample will be collected. Your comprehensive urinalysis result is sent electronically in 24-48 hours after urine collection.

  Cotanine is a metabolite of nicotine and is used as a biomarker for exposure to tobacco use. Individuals who do not smoke or is not exposed to secondhand smoke do not have measurable cotanine. However, individuals who do smoke will typically have a cotinine level of 10 or higher in their blood. Most cotanine is rapidly eliminated by the kidney, where it is concentrated 10x higher.

  The only way to reduce your cotanine level is to stay away from tobacco smoke, even second hand smoke, or quit tobacco use. This test provides a reliable measure of tobacco smoke exposure and may benefit your health or that of your loved ones if you want to find out whether or not have been exposed to tobacco smoke.
