Hair Follicle Test Kits

Hair Follicle Drug Testing is one of the most trusted methods of drug detection today and is used by law enforcement officials, employers and parents alike. This method is not only accurate but it is also a zero-tolerance test, which means that even the smallest amount of a drug will show up on the test.

Hair drug test analysis can provide a drug history over a 90-day period and has consistently proven to be more effective than urinalysis and other methods in correctly identifying substance abusers. Using a small sample of hair cut at the scalp, hair analysis evaluates the amount of drug metabolites embedded inside the hair shaft.

If no head hair is available, body hair can be used. Bleaches, shampoos and external contaminants (i.e. marijuana smoke) have no known impact on test results

Amongst several methodologies that have been developed in the last few decades to trace the drug abuse, Hair-drug testing method is gaining wide acceptance & popularity due to its high accuracy & efficiency, not to mention the ease of performing the test itself! This test uses the hair segments as samples to detect the traces of certain drugs & analyze them quantitatively to determine if they amount over the permitted metabolite cut-offs. This technique is principally quite simple. As and when a person ingests a drug, upon first pass metabolism by liver, these drugs are converted to various metabolic products or metabolites. These metabolites or original drug molecules then circulate in the blood stream. The blood arteries are connected to the hair shaft and thus drugs or their metabolites are delivered to the hair follicles. In due course of time, through these follicles, the metabolites are entrapped into the core of the shaft i.e. the cortex of the hair fiber. As the hair grows, new metabolites are added at the bottom, with the old metabolites at the top. Hence a one and half or two inch long hair segment with follicle attached can be used to draw a complete map of the drug history of an individual.
