Prescription Drug Abuse Testing
Prescription drug abuse is a growing trend in America, affecting families, schools and workplaces.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), after marijuana, prescription and non-medical use of over-the-counter medication account for most of the commonly abused drugs among 12th Graders in America.
Three types of prescription drugs are abused most often:
- Opioids—prescribed for pain relief
- CNS depressants—barbiturates and benzodiazepines prescribed for anxiety or sleep problems (often referred to as sedatives or tranquilizers)
- Stimulants—prescribed for attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), the sleep disorder narcolepsy, or obesity.
There are prescription drug tests available to help detect prescription abuse.
Drug testing can be used for testing children at home, employees and potential employees in the workplace, parolees and in other situations where a drug free environment is required.
You can choose tests that provide you with instant results or tests where samples are sent to a laboratory for analysis.
Confidentiality is guaranteed, as testing at home means only those involved with the test know about it and if you choose to go to a collection center, an ID separate from the donor’s actual name will be assigned to the sample.
